Stories always take you in the world of your fantasy. A world that always exists within everyone, unknown to the actual world around. PGGCG-42 started storytelling clubs on February 2020.

Friday Fables

First club was named as 'Friday Fables'.  Friday Fables was created to celebrate and rejoice the work of Indian writers in collaboration with Mr Mohit Verma, Assistant Professor of Public Administration, PGGCG-42, Chandigarh and Dr Nidhi Rana, Assistant Professor of English at PGGCG-42, Chandigarh. Space is created where stories can live out loud the prime motive of having the story session was to inculcate reading habits against the students. In a way, Friday Fables celebrates and promotes the modern practice of an ancient oral tradition through stories. Stories of Manto, Bisham Sahani, Amrita Pritam, Tagore, etc are read and followed by a discussion about the story and on authors writing style.

After the lockdown because of COVID 19, the club decided to go online on 10 April 2020and since then a live story is narrated and broadcast through the Facebook page of Friday Fables (https://www.facebook.com/pggcgff). The session is made live on every Friday and a story is narrated by a storyteller. People from various streams have done narration at the forum. Every week a storyteller reads out a story written in the Hindi language by a prominent writer. Total 50 stories were narrated on the platform by 15th January 2021. Thousands of story levers follow the page and listen to the stories.

Tell-Tale Tuesdays

Looking at the success of the Friday Fables, library started Tell-Tale Tuesdays, a forum created on Facebook to celebrate stories in English in collaboration with Dr Nidhi Rana, Assistant Professor of English at PGGCG-42, Chandigarh. The forum started on 13 October 2020 on the Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/pggcgttt) and is continuing till date. On every second and fourth Tuesday at 6 pm, a story is narrated by one of us. Stories create magic and a sense of wonder at the world. They promote feeling of well-being and relaxation and also encourage use of imagination and creativity.

We are turned up as an informal group and we welcome people to listen as well as tell stories; after all, a story needs an audience! For futher information pleases contact sharda.preeti@gmail.com
