1. Personal Belongings:
o Bags, personal belongings, and books borrowed from other libraries must not be brought inside the library. These should be kept at the property counter.
o The library is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal property left on its premises. Please ensure all valuable items are kept safe
2. Library
Etiquette:
o Strict silence must be observed at
all times. Mobile phones should be switched off or set to silent mode inside
the library premises.
o Eating, drinking, and sleeping are
strictly prohibited in the library to maintain a clean and quiet environment.
o Conversations, if necessary, should
be conducted in low voices to avoid disturbing other readers.
3.
Library
Access and Identification:
o All students must carry their college
ID card while in the library or on college grounds and present it upon request
by library or college staff.
o The IDENTITY cum LIBRARY CARD is
non-transferable. In case of loss, report it immediately to the library staff
to temporarily block your membership and prevent misuse. Notify the circulation
staff once a replacement card is obtained to reactivate membership.
o Ensure that you provide a correct
mobile number and email address when filling out the library membership form
for timely communication and updates.
4.
Borrowing
and Returning Books:
o The number of books a student may
borrow is as follows:
§ Graduate students (Part I/II/III): 2
books
§ M.A./M.Sc. and Honours students: 3
books
o Books can be retained for up to 14
days. A fine of Re. 1 per book per day will be charged for late returns.
Students who fail to return books by the due date will not be issued any more
books until all overdue books are returned.
o Do not write, underline, or mark any
library books. Books are carefully examined upon return, and any damage will be
the responsibility of the borrower.
o Journals, rare books, and magazines
are for consultation only and must be used within the library premises.
5.
Handling
of Library Materials:
o Any loss of library books should be
reported to the librarian immediately, and the matter settled by replacing the
book or paying its price within a week of the due date.
o If a book is found to be damaged,
notify the librarian before borrowing. Otherwise, the person returning the book
will be held responsible for the damage.
o After reading, leave books on the
table. Do not attempt to shelve the books yourself, as this can cause
misplacement.
6.
Assistance:
o If you need help finding any material
or have any questions regarding library services, please do not hesitate to ask
the library staff for assistance. They are here to help you.
7.
Exit
Procedures:
o When leaving the library, members are
required to show their files, file covers, books, etc., to the library staff at
the check-point for inspection to ensure no unissued materials are taken out.
8.
General
Conduct:
o All library users are expected to
maintain decorum and follow the rules. Misconduct or non-compliance with
library rules may lead to suspension or cancellation of library privileges.
o Respect library property and report
any incidents or damages immediately to the library staff.
